Central Puglia & the Valle D'Itria
are well served with internal road, rail, air,
and ferry links. Additionally there are direct
flights from the UK to both nearby Bari &
Brindisi and also to Naples which is some 3 hours
drive a way.
The region makes a good base for those looking
for a peaceful location but with nearby lively
historic hillside towns. It is often much greener
than one is led to expect and the rich red earth
produces an abundance of fresh local fruit and
vegetables, available from the many local markets
and often delivered in those quintessential post
war vehicles the Fiat Cinquecento and the Piaggio3
wheelers.
Wonderful fresh fish and sea food are available throughout the region, as are a huge variety of olives from the many ancient olive trees with their often spectacularly gnarled trunks.
